I've known the William family for many years and had the blessing to photograph their family grow over the years. This photo is a throwback to my very first family portrait session in Feburary 2011 with my Canon EOS Rebel T2i with no studio lights, just the one built into the camera. Looking back at this photo just proves how much I have grown as a photographer and I am so thankful to have people like this as friends.

This cute little face is back! I love the baby plan package because I get to see Lucy and other children every few months. This little girl always gives me a good laugh when I see her. This session she wanted to keep her adorable mouth open during the session. As you can see in the first image this is what most of the images look like from her session. Its so cute and funny!! I did everything I could to capture the moments when she was most relaxed and I think I did an overall great job. I lookfoward to seeing her for her 1 year session!!
Wow!!! Since June 1st, which was when Jenny and Randy got married, I have been non stop working weddings and working on photo sessions. Thats never a bad thing though. =) I love it so much!! I am sorry that I am behind on my blogging but plan to catch up soon. I met so many wonderful people this year!!
When I met Jenny I knew I would have so much fun at her wedding. She is so down to earth and if you know her you would agree she is so bubbly!! On the big day when some of her family, friends, and I waited to get into the Schram Memorial Chapel we became worried why the doors were locked. When Jenny and Randy came they did not panic. It was amazing how relaxed they were along with all the guests. I even heard people joking about them just getting married right in front of the Chapel but we eventually got in with the help of one phone call. It was that moment that set the tone of the wedding. During the vows you were crying one minute and laughing the other minute. You could see the love Jenny and Randy have for one another. Their parents welcomed me as if I was a guest entering their home. If you scroll down you'll she in Jenny's words about their love story.
Jenny sent me a link about her and Randy's love story. It sure is a cute one. I couln't find myself to change anything about what she wrote so I coppied and past what she wrote about them.
"From the moment I met Randy, I knew he was someone who would never give up on me. He looked so innocent and honest. I suppose you can say that it was like meeting a cute little puppy. But perhaps Randy does not like to be compared to a puppy (sorry, Randy). Anyway, through the years I have known him, I have learned that he is a creative, down-to-earth, and supportive person. We met in our freshman biology class 7 years ago. We studied together often because I had a hard time learning the material. I particularly remember studying for one biology exam together, and I didn't understand how certain enzymes cut DNA. Well, Randy, being the crafty beaver he is, took some paper and cut some shoelace rope and made this DNA model I can hold in my hand. And the other time I couldn't understand magnetic forces in physics, Randy mixed water and flour, popped the mixture in the oven, and molded a life-size model of magnetic forces. Randy had always tried his best to help me understand difficult concepts. He never gave up explaining until I understood. When I am with Randy, it feels like anything is possible. No hot water in the apartment? No problem! Randy boils hot water on the stove and pours it into his plant waterer (which is attached to a sprinkler!). OMG SMART! (Jenny would have probably not showered at all.) Making a bracelet out of bullets? No problem! Just cut the butt end of it and make a super cool bracelet with hemp! (Jenny doesn't even know how to braid hemp...fail.) Gotta go home because of a family emergency? No problem! With a clear head, Randy buys a plane ticket, buys dinner for the plane ride home, and gives 14 kisses--1 for the morning and 1 for the night for the 7 days I am gone. Randy has made me see that when you love someone, everything is possible.
No relationship is perfect and without arguments. The night that I decided that I want to spend the rest of my life together with him was after an argument about the future. Randy was accepted to medical school in Kansas City, and I didn't know what to do--if I wanted to stay in Chicago or go with him to Kansas City. We knew that if I stayed in Chicago, our relationship may fall apart with distance. Today, I cannot remember why I wanted to stay in Chicago back then, but in the end, my decision was to stay together with Randy. It was after I realized what I would be losing, my greatest supporter, the person who never gave up on me, and is probably the best thing that ever happened to me in my life.
So 4 years later, here I am in Kansas City with Randy. With Randy's love I have discovered myself. I discovered that I enjoy nursing and being an advocate for people. So I went back to Chicago for nursing school. Randy never let go of his love for me while I was gone. Despite his busy schedule, he wrote letters to me and addressed it to "Mrs. Octopus", after his favorite fluffy stuffed octopus he got from Hong Kong. He sent me his favorite love songs and homemade snacks for school. When times got hard at school, Randy encouraged me to always do my best. He was my greatest cheerleader even though he was miles away. His love touched me all the way to Chicago. Even with our distance, Randy never gave up on our love.
After 4 years of medical school, after all of the hard work and late hours he has put into school, Randy is GRADUATING!!!!!!! It's really amazing to see how far Randy has come as a person. He has a nurturing soul and I know that he is going to do great with whatever he decides to do in medicine. The best thing about being with Randy is that he really believes in you. For any goal or dream that you have, Randy will be there, cheering you on and reminding you that anything is possible. Thank you, Randy, for showing me that love, true love, is possible. For everything you have given to me, I hope to give you that and more, for the time I share with you. I love you!"
We had a hard, bitter winter this year but I say it is worth it when I capture amazing images like these! I got to spend my weekend with two amazing little boys. Both of them were troopers! Now that the weather is warming up it can be hard wearing pants and long sleeved shirts outside in the hot beating sun but that didn't stop them from having a good time.
I love Prairie Crossing for its uniqueness They have their own barn, a small beach, the homes are colorful, and they are known for their beautiful tall grass. Basically a photographers dream location!
Most people do not know that I got into photography when I went to Paris, France to visit my aunt for her birthday. My dad bought me a panisonic point and shoot camera and told me to take many photos because he wanted me to remember this expericnce for the rest of my life. I am so grateful he did!
Here are a few that I captured during my trip.
Photography became a hobby of mine because of this trip until in 2009 I decided to expand my love by making it into my career. I still love taking landscape photos and along with close up with flowers. This blog is to show some of my current work. Hope you enjoy them.
